Your video is not uploaded

The file you choose is read and converted on your device with your browser's built-in video APIs (WebCodecs), inside a background worker. It is never sent to VidFold or to any other server.

By default, VidFold doesn't copy the original file's metadata (such as location, device model, titles and dates) into the exported file. You can turn this off under Output settings → More options.

Temporary files in your browser

While converting, the exported file is written to your browser's private storage for this site (the Origin Private File System), in a folder named vidfold. Other websites cannot read it. The file is deleted when you choose Convert another video, remove the selected file, or start a new conversion.

If you close the tab before doing one of those, the converted file stays in that storage until you next open VidFold, which deletes files left behind by closed tabs. You can also remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Previews and timeline thumbnails are kept only in memory and disappear when you leave the page.

Analytics, only if you agree

VidFold has no sign-up and runs no advertising. On your first visit it asks whether it may use Google Analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga) and receives details such as the pages you open, your approximate location, browser and device type. It never receives your videos, their names or their contents. See Google's privacy policy.

If you reject, or don't answer, no Google script is loaded and no cookies are set. You can change your answer at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of the page. Fonts and code are served from this site. The mini games do not save anything.

So it can start instantly and work offline, your browser keeps a copy of VidFold's own code, fonts and icons in this site's cache storage. Your analytics answer, and a dismissed suggestion to install the app, are remembered in this site's local storage. Neither contains your videos or anything about them.

If you share a video to the installed app from your phone's share menu, the video is handed over on your device: it is held for a moment in this site's cache storage and deleted as soon as VidFold opens it. It is not uploaded.

Server logs

Like any website, the server that delivers these pages may record standard request details such as IP address, browser type and the page requested. These logs never contain your video.

Changes

If VidFold starts collecting anything new, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
